FINAL MAJOR PROJECT
THE MILLIONS
HIV AWARENESS & PREVENTION EXHIBITIONS
2021
HIV AWARENESS EXHIBITION
CHALLENGE
CONCEPT
The main objectives of this project is to reduce the stigma and discrimination behind HIV within women worldwide to allow them to live a better life. The stigmas women face from living with HIV are different to men due to inequalities within society. The project aims to get more people talking about HIV within women and to raise awareness on the topic to empower more women. Furthermore, the project is designed to help women in LEDC’s who have a lack of education on HIV and to provide them with free contraception and testing to help reduce the spread of the disease.
This exhibition would be held in Times Square, NY, on the week of National women and girls HIV/AIDs awareness week. The exhibition would be a pop up one which people will then be able to visit online after this week. The money which is raised from this exhibition will go towards the women in South Africa so that they can get tested and get more contraception. The diamond system used throughout covering up information and images to symbolise how these women are ignored and not spoke about enough. The diamond system was used as the symbol represents light, therefore, the aim is to show how The Millions will help these women and guide them to the light. The diamonds are used to cover information and type which represents how the women are hidden and not spoke about enough. The name of the brand, ‘The Millions’ was created to reinforce how many women are suffering from HIV around the world. The three gradients are used to highlight the three different stages of HIV. The diamond was also placed in the ‘o’ to keep the brand consistent. The pink was used due to it being a feminine colour and the red due to it being the colour of AIDs. The South African exhibition gradient uses the colours within their countries flag, yellow and a hint of orange.
HIV PREVENTION EXHIBITION
This exhibition is to help the women in South Africa. South Africa has the highest number of women living with HIV globally, therefore, the focus here would make a change. The exhibition would educate women on how to stay safe. I wanted this to be a social exhibition, therefore, The Millions offers free testing and free contraception to hopefully decrease the infection rate.
